The Atlanta Silverbacks Women announced their 2012 W-League schedule Thursday.

The defending W-League champions open the season at home on May 18 against the Central SC Cobras, one of three new teams in the league’s Southeast division this season. The Women will play a 12-game regular season, featuring six home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park between May 18 and June 22.

The Women, who captured their first ever W-League title last season with a 6-1 win over the Ottawa Fury in July, will operate under the direction of Chris Adams in 2012. Adams has served as the team’s head coach since 2009, but this season, he will also take on the position of general manager, which was vacated by Laura Fedrigo-Chevalier.

“I’m very excited to build off the success that my predecessor, Laura Fedrigo-Chevalier, experienced with the Atlanta Silverbacks Women,” said Adams. “I want to thank the organization for the opportunity and I have the utmost confidence that we’ll have the support necessary to make a strong run at another league championship.”
