ATLANTA, Ga. – The Atlanta Silverbacks women return home to Silverbacks Park for the final two games of the regular season on Saturday as they take on the Dayton Dutch Lions for the third time in eight days .
These two squads met twice in Dayton, Ohio last weekend on Friday, June 28, and Sunday, June 30. Dayton (4-1-2) won the first matchup 4-1, and the Silverbacks (3-3-2) pulled out a scoreless draw on Sunday.
Dayton currently sits atop the conference with 14 points overall with three games to play, including a game one day prior to the matchup in Atlanta. The Dutch Lions traveled to Charlotte to take on the Lady Eagles on Friday.
Atlanta sits in fourth place in the Southeastern Conference with 11 points and two games to play. The Silverbacks need to win both games to put themselves into a good position to make the playoffs.
Three points against Dayton on Saturday could vault the Silverbacks all the way into second place in the conference. To get the three points, however, Atlanta must do what it did on Sunday against Dayton: stop their offense. Atlanta had plenty of chances on goal but could not convert on Sunday. They were able to stop the potent offense of the Dutch Lions, though, to earn a tough point in the standings.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Silverbacks Park in Atlanta. Tickets are still available at atlantasilverbacks.com/wleague.
