TAMPA, Fla. - The Atlanta Silverbacks women's soccer team had two players named to the W-League's All-Southeastern Conference team and one named to the All-League team announced last month at the league office in Tampa.
Cherie Sayon and Savannah Jordan were named to the All-Conference team and Jordan was named to the All W-League team. Jordan was joined by Blakely Mattern of Carolina Elite as the two Southeastern Conference players on the All-League team.
"It's an honor to have two of our players named to these teams this season," said Silverbacks general manager Chris Adams. "Savannah and Cherie had great seasons, and we are glad that their seasons were recognized at the league level."
Jordan led the team in points this season with 19 while playing in all 10 games. She scored eight goals and had three assists. Sayon had 14 points in 10 games, scoring five goals and assisting on four others. Both ladies had 21 shots on the season.
The Silverbacks women would like to thank all the fans for their support this season.
"We had increasing numbers of attendance at each home game this season," said Adams. "Even when we went down to Columbus during State Cup we had the stands full. Thanks to all the fans this season for coming out to support our team."
As the Silverbacks look forward to next season, Adams challenges the fans to support the Silverbacks even more next year. "We feel like we are close to being back in postseason play and we need all the support we can get to have the 12th man next season."
