Hayes, Toure Named to Weekly Best 11

Tuesday May 13, 2008
ATLANTA—The Silverbacks' David Hayes and Ansu Toure were named to the weekly USL-1 Best 11 squad Tuesday for their play in the club's 2-2 draw last Saturday night versus the Carolina RailHawks.

Hayes tallied the equalizing goal in the 83rd minute, slamming home a near-post shot from inside the penalty area. The goal was Hayes second on the season.

“It's always great to be acknowledged, but I would rather not have scored and we won the game,” said Hayes. “The most important thing is getting points and climbing the table.”

Toure assisted Jason McLaughlin in the 17th minute to open scoring, and was dangerous on both the right and left flank throughout the night.

This is Toure's second time on the weekly Best 11. He was named to the Week Two squad after having a hand in all three Silverback goals in the club's 3-2 win over Montreal.

The Charleston Battery's Randi Patterson earned Player of the Week honors for his two-goal performance in the Battery's 3-1 win over Miami.
