          After an incredibly successful 2007 season that saw the Atlanta Silverbacks Women make their first appearance in the USL W-League Championship match, the team will hold open tryouts on March 28th & 29th. The Silverbacks Women broke several franchise records last season on their path to the championship match. Keith Jones will head up the coaching staff for his second year in a row. With the help of assistant coach Tony Anglin, the Silverbacks’ coaching staff will be looking to add more depth to this year’s 2008 squad. The open tryout will be held March 28th from 5-7pm & March 29th from 11-1pm at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, while current collegiate players with remaining years of eligibility will tryout on May 1 (due to NCAA regulations).
          Executive Director of the Silverbacks Women, Laura Fedrigo, says tryouts are worthwhile for the organization, “We had a great season last year and the coaches and players are very excited about our upcoming season and the hopes of bringing home the title.  Tryouts are a great opportunity for a number of players out there hoping to continue to expand their playing career."

SILVERBACKS PDP/SUPER-Y PROGRAM WILL HOLD TRYOUTS FOR 2008
         The Atlanta Silverbacks PDP/Super-Y Program sent five teams to the USL Super-Y League North American Finals in Tampa last November. Each year the tournament provides exceptional experience to the developing players, including national recognition, outstanding competition against the country’s best players, and invaluable exposure to coaches from across the nation.
          The PDP program will be hosting tryouts for the 2008 squads on Saturday, January 26 at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. Tryouts cost $30 (includes a t-shirt) and are open to players from all clubs in the U13-U17 age groups.
          Members of the Atlanta Silverbacks Elite Youth Club and GFC will have a reduced tryout fee of $10. All players should register online with either the PDP Boys Registration or the PDP Girls Registration.  You must be a year-round player for Silverbacks Elite or GFC (your player status will be verified) in order to get the reduced tryout fee. SILVERBACKS’ CANDACE WEST EARNS HONORS AS YOUTH ALL-AMERICAN
    Candace West began playing with the Atlanta Silverbacks PDP/Super-Y Program before being called up to play with the Atlanta Silverbacks Women in the USL W-League during the 2006 season. West, a student at Lakeside High School, earned national recognition when she was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas Girls Youth All-America Team. She played in ten games for the Silverbacks Women in 2007 and recorded her first W-League goal against the Fredericksburg Lady Gunners. The 80 members of the NSCAA/Adidas All-America Girls Youth Team have been invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on Saturday, January 18 in Baltimore, MD.
