The Atlanta Silverbacks will host the Rochester Raging Rhinos on Friday, September 14 at 7:55 pm in the quarter-finals of the 2007 USL First Division playoffs. The Silverbacks (4th place) and the Rhinos (5th place) will play a two-game series. The second leg of the series will take place on Sunday night at 6:05 pm at PAETEC Park in Rochester, NY. The winner of the two-game series will be determined by the following criteria (in order):
1) Aggregate score (after two ninety-minute matches)
2) Two 15-minute overtime periods will be played in their entirety (only if aggregate score tied after the 2nd ninety-minute match)
3) FIFA penalty kicks
For example, if Atlanta wins the first leg 2-0 and loses the second leg 1-2, Atlanta will advance to the semi-finals 3-2 on aggregate goals. If the Silverbacks win 2-0 in the first leg and lose 2-0 in the second leg, the game on Sunday in Rochester will go into overtime and penalty kicks if necessary to determine the winner.
After the first round, teams will be matched up based on their original seeding at the end of the regular season - the highest remaining seed will play the lowest remaining seed and the second-highest remaining seed will play the second-lowest remaining seed.
