The Silverbacks and the Charlotte Lady Eagles have met twice this season, with each team recording a shutout. Charlotte took the first game 3-0 in the W-League season opener on May 11 in Charlotte. The Silverbacks took revenge when they hosted the Eagles two weeks later in their home opener, beating Charlotte 2-0.
The two sides will kick-off again tonight at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium in their final match-up for the 2007 season. The Silverbacks Women remain in first place of the W-League’s Atlantic Division and will hope to take the Atlanta-Charlotte, three-game series with a win tonight against the Eagles.
Tonight’s match, an exhibition game, may not count towards either team’s regular season record, but that will not stop the rivalry. Every time the Silverbacks Women take on the Charlotte Lady Eagles fans can expect a high-energy, high-scoring ball game.
The Silverbacks Women will resume regular season play on Saturday evening in Florida when they take on the Cocoa Expos. The game against the Expos is the first leg of a two-game road trip; the Silverbacks will play the Bradenton Athletics on Sunday.
