The Atlanta Silverbacks tied the California Victory 0-0 tonight at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium in Atlanta's second consecutive scoreless tie in the USL First Division's regular season.
After scoring ten goals on Tuesday night in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup, the Atlanta Silverbacks failed to put a goal in the back of the net. Most of the play in the first half took place in the middle of the field in a scrappy half with just six total shots. Atlanta dominated the offensive chances in the first half, outshooting their opponent 5-1, but their regular season scoring woes continued against the westcoast expansion side.
Neither team could find a rhythm in the second half due to the 18 fouls that interrupted play. The Silverbacks had many close chances in the final minutes of the match, including a shot from Warren Ukah that went off the cross bar in stoppage time, but the team could not convert and the game ended 0-0.
Atlanta’s next match will be on the road next Friday, June 22 against the Charleston Battery at 8:00 pm – the match will be televised live on the Fox Soccer Channel.
