The Atlanta Silverbacks tied the Seattle Sounders 0-0 tonight at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium for the Silverbacks’ third tie on the season. The scoreless tie lacked more than just goals; the static match included a mere 13 shots; eight for Atlanta and five for Seattle. The Silverbacks dominated possession of the ball but failed to create many dangerous attacks against Seattle who sat back and played defensively. Seattle, who was playing in their second leg of a two-game road-trip tonight, conserved their energy with the defensive style of play.
"I thought we played well enough to win, unfortunately we couldn't get the ball in the back of the net. We can look at the clean sheet as the positive point of the game," commented Head Coach Jason Smith.
After going 1-4-0 in the last five matches, Head Coach Smith made some changes to the starting line-up. Ryan McIntosh replaced Felipe Quintero in the net, while Rafique Hassim replaced Justin Moore at the right midfield position.
The Silverbacks will play again on Saturday, June 16 against the expansion side, the California Victory at 7:55 pm at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive 2007 Silverbacks team cards.
