The Atlanta Silverbacks will take on the Seattle Sounders at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium this Saturday night at 7:55 pm. The Silverbacks, 3-4-2, will be looking to improve their record and their current ninth place ranking in the USL First Division. The Sounders, 3-4-3, sit two spots ahead of the Silverbacks’ in seventh place in the USL First Division standings. Atlanta will look to get a win this Saturday night after losing to Miami last weekend from a goal in the final seconds of stoppage time.

SILVERBACKS WOMEN WELCOME RICHMOND IN BATTLE FOR FIRST PLACE
Last weekend the Atlanta Silverbacks Women sat tied for first place with both the Charlotte Lady Eagles and the Richmond Kickers Destiny. After knocking off the Lady Eagles 2-0 last Friday night, the Silverbacks have set their sights on defeating the Destiny this Friday night and stake the sole claim over first place in the Atlantic Division of the W-League’s Central Conference. Atlanta took on Richmond on Memorial Day in Virginia, but just a few minutes before halftime with the game tied 1-1, the referee called the match due to inclement weather. After two weeks of anticipation at a rematch, the Atlanta Silverbacks Women will have their shot at Richmond and first place on Friday. The intensity of the match reaches further back than simply the 2007 season; Richmond beat Atlanta by one goal twice last season (1-0 in Atlanta and 2-1 in Richmond). Friday night’s match will be an important one for both teams as they look to edge ahead into first place.
