SILVERBACKS FALL 2-1 IN MIAMI

Sunday May 20, 2007

The Atlanta Silverbacks lost 2-1 to Miami FC Sunday, May 20 at the Orange Bowl in Miami, FL. On their second leg of a two-game road trip, the tropical heat and humidity proved too much for the Silverbacks and they dropped their second game of the season.
The Silverbacks struck first in the 5th minute when Daniel Antoniuk headed the ball into the net off a corner kick, putting the ‘Backs up 1-0. The Silverbacks fought hard during the first half, maintaining their 1-0 lead into halftime.
During the second half, Atlanta could not hold on to their lead and Miami evened the score in the 51st minute when Zinho finished a 30-yard blast low and to the corner. Just ten minutes later, Miami scored the game winner. Stephane Guillaume crossed the ball across the face of the goal to Sean Fraser who redirected it past Atlanta’s Felipe Quintero. The Silverbacks went all out in the final minutes and put the pressure on Miami, but the score remained 2-1.
The Silverbacks, now 3-2-2, will play again on Saturday, May 26 against the Charleston Battery at Blackbaud Stadium at 7:30 pm. The ‘Backs will return home on June 2 to host the Miami FC at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. For ticket information call 1-866-GO-BACKS or visit
