Atlanta Silverbacks

          The Atlanta Silverbacks defended their unbeaten record this past weekend with a 2-0 win over the Carolina RailHawks. The win also kept the Silverbacks in first place in the USL First Division – they have the same record, 2-0-2, as the Vancouver Whitecaps.
          Two Atlanta Silverbacks players received USL Team of the Week honors for their first time this season. The USL Team of the Week featured Silverbacks captain Rodrigo Rios and newcomer Justin Moore. Rios assisted Moore in the Silverbacks’ second goal on Saturday night.
          The Carolina RailHawks will come to town again this Saturday to play the Silverbacks for the third time in as many weeks. The match will be intense as the teams have had two close matches – Atlanta will be looking to remain undefeated and at the top of the table, while Carolina will be looking for revenge and their first win. SILVERBACKS ANNOUNCE TRYOUT SCHEDULE FOR ELITE YOUTH CLUB
           The Atlanta Silverbacks Elite Youth Soccer Club announced the tryout schedule for the fall 2007 season, as well as announcing their coaching staff. Tryouts will begin May 30 and will run through July 14 – dates and times vary by age group. The Silverbacks will have one elite boys’ team in every age group.
           “This year we will be launching a true academy program that will include both boys and girls. We plan to build the girls’ program from the academy up and expand the program each year into the select age groups,” commented Silverbacks Executive Director, Laura Fedrigo. “Our methods for building the girls’ program remain in line with our vision of being an elite training club where we develop players from the younger age groups into our select travel teams.”
           The Silverbacks Elite Youth Club will continue to play within the U.S. Club model that provides the teams the opportunity to play the top clubs in the region while creating a schedule that fits the individual team’s needs.
