It is inevitable that every soccer player is going to have a bad night; the trick is to make sure that all players do not have a bad night on the same night. Unfortunately that was not the case for the Atlanta Silverbacks today in Miami when they had an embarrassing 7-1 loss to Miami FC.
“I was extremely disappointed with our performance – we got off on the wrong foot early in the game and one mistake led to another,” commented Head Coach Jason Smith.
Miami started the scoring in the first half and did not stop until the home team had racked up an uncommon seven goals. After going down 3-0 the Silverbacks put three forwards up top to try to get back in the game, the change in strategy simply left the Silverbacks more vulnerable in the back and Miami continued to score. Miami’s tight technical game gave the ‘Backs trouble all over the field. The Silverbacks stole the shutout from Miami with a goal in the second half. The game ended in a shocking and disappointing 7-1 loss.
With four games remaining in the season, the Silverbacks still control their playoff destiny. The Silverbacks will host the Rochester Raging Rhinos this Saturday, September 2 at 7:30 pm in the final home game at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. In a show of appreciation to fans, the Silverbacks will have a fireworks display after the match. For ticket information call 1-866-GO-BACKS.
