SILVERBACKS DROP TWO GAMES OVER THE WEEKEND

          After losing 4-2 to the Toronto Lynx on Friday night, the Atlanta Silverbacks traveled to Rochester, NY to take on the Rochester Raging Rhinos at Paetec Park. Despite valient efforts, the Silverbacks fell 1-0 in stoppage time. Saturday’s match was the first meeting between the Silverbacks and the Rhinos, the teams will meet again for Atlanta’s last home match of the season on September 2 at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium.
          The entire game went back and forth, with both sides having numerous chances and several shots go off the posts. Jason McLaughlin had a great chance on a breakaway in the first half and Alex Pineda-Chacon had a shot go off the post in the second half. The two teams remained even until the final minutes of the second half. Rochester had a free kick during injury time and midfielder Greg Howes finished the goal and handed the Silverbacks the loss.
          “I’m disappointed with the result but I was very pleased with our performance. I feel like everyone on the team contributed and we bounced back well from our poor performance last night,” commented head coach Jason Smith.
