MEN HEAD SOUTH TO TEST EXPANSION SIDE
The Silverbacks Men, 0-1-2, will look for their first win this weekend when they face Miami FC on Sunday in Florida. Although Miami FC is the newest addition to the USL First Division, the franchise secured many soccer greats for their inaugural year, including Brazilian soccer stars Romario and Zhino. “I think we’ve improved since the previous match; and each week we get a better understanding of each other. Obviously Miami has some very experienced players, but if we come out and play like we’re capable of playing we should be able to come home with a positive result,” said Head Coach Jason Smith. Miami’s current record, 0-2-1, lands them one point ahead of the Silverbacks in the USL First Division standings. The first ever game between the Silverbacks Men and Miami FC will kick-off on Sunday, May 14 at 4:00 pm. Click here to read about the Silverbacks’ game last week against the Virginia Beach Mariners.
WOMEN TO CHALLENGE CHARLOTTE LADY EAGLES
The Silverbacks Women will seek revenge against the Charlotte Lady Eagles tomorrow at 5:30 pm in Charlotte, NC. After losing to the Eagles twice last season, the Silverbacks have a reason to be fired up for this weekend’s match. “I’m extremely excited about the game this weekend. Charlotte has always been a strong team and I think it will be an intense game. Going into our third match-up against the Eagles, everyone is ready to get a win for our side,” said Silverbacks’ midfielder Tara Minnax. Atlanta opened the W-League season last weekend with a 4-0 rout over the Carolina Dynamo; tomorrow night’s game is the season opener for Charlotte.
