Atlanta Silverbacks defender Bobby Reiss chose the ideal time to find his scoring boots and claim the goals that helped his club win the North American Soccer League Spring Season title. Reiss was rewarded with the NASL Player of the Week award.
On the Fourth of July, Reiss calmed the nerves of the Silverbacks with his side’s second goal in a 3-0 win away to Minnesota United FC that helped win the championship for the first half of the season and also put in a commanding defensive performance to shut out the hosts.
“Bobby has been tremendous since his inclusion in the line up and even though he may be recognized for his goals, his defensive work has not gone unnoticed by the team,” said Silverbacks coach Brian Haynes. “This is well deserved.”
Reiss, a product of Cal State Fullerton, signed for Atlanta in March and the 22-year-old also scored a key goal on June 29 when he stole the lead away to the Carolina RailHawks in a 1-1 draw that kept his team in title contention.
