Atlanta Silverbacks Park will be the site for “Atlanta’s Only Authentic Mexican Independence Day Festival” on September 15, the Silverbacks announced on Wednesday.
The day-long event, presented by the Silverbacks, Tecate and El Patron 105.3 FM, will run from 12 p.m.-1 a.m. on September 15, and will feature the Silverbacks’ matchup against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the action on the field, there will be live music, authentic Mexican food, dancing, soccer clinics, contests, and fireworks throughout the day. The featured musical acts are Severo Benito y Su Banda Cachas de Oro and Forasteros de San Luis.
The soccer clinics will be led by current Silverbacks players and coaches, and will be held on the stadium field. At halftime of the game, a few lucky fans will be selected to participate in a “Kick and Win” contest, which will have a grand prize of $10,000.
“We’re excited to host this Mexican Independence Day Festival,” said Silverbacks Chairman Boris Jerkunica. “It’s a huge day for those in the Mexican community, and I think it should be a lot of fun.”
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, and each ticket is good for both the festival and that night’s Silverbacks game. Parking will be free before 4 p.m. and will cost $6 for the remainder of the night. To purchase tickets, call 404-969-4900 or visit atlantasilverbacks.com.
