Just days after helping the Silverbacks take home the North American Soccer League Spring Season Championship, defender MARK BLOOM is on his way to Major League Soccer side Toronto FC after signing a loan deal for the remainder of the season on Friday, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
When the Atlanta Silverbacks loaned defender Chris Klute to the Colorado Rapids last September, the club knew what type of player the Major League Soccer side was getting. Now, after starting 16 consecutive matches and piling up a team-high five assists this season, Klute will be staying in Colorado for good. The Rapids purchased the contract of the 23-year-old left back on Thursday, and per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Atlanta Silverbacks hosted their NASL Spring Season Championship Media Day at Atlanta Silverbacks Park on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming TV stations, newspapers, and other media outlets to the stadium to interview members of the team, coaching staff, and front office, and of course view the club’s new championship trophy. Blaine, Minn. (July 4, 2013) – On a wild night in North American Soccer League play, the Atlanta Silverbacks captured the league’s Spring Season title and an opportunity to host the Soccer Bowl, the league’s championship game in November. The Silverbacks topped Minnesota United FC, 3-0, Thursday night in Blaine, Minn. and clinched the title 15 minutes later when the San Antonio Scorpions clinched a 2-0 win over the Carolina RailHawks, who led the league going into the final match night of the season.
