The Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves will go on hiatus during the 2013 season, the club announced Friday afternoon. The Reserves, who launched under the name Atlanta FC, have competed in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) since 2008. 

The club, which will aim to return in 2014, has produced several professional players in recent years, sending the likes of forward Junior Sandoval to C.D. Marathón in Honduras and Eric Ati, Jahbari Willis and Chris Klute to the Silverbacks professional side.  

Klute is a prime example of the success of the Reserves program. The standout defender joined the Reserves in 2011 after taking time off after a promising youth career that included time with both the U-17 and U-20 U.S. national teams. Klute's play in 2011 attracted attention from local colleges, and he joined Clayton State University's team that fall.  After an outstanding start to the 2012 NPSL season, Klute was signed by the Silverbacks professional team and eventually loaned to the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. The Rapids saw so much promise in Klute during his time there in late 2012 that they decided to bring him back for the entire 2013 season.
